Behaviour/Training Sessions
At C&S I keep the safety of everyone in mind. When I first come to visit you, I ask that your pet is safely under control or in an area I can meet them where they are happy. Dogs who struggle meeting people, I ask that they are either on lead or locked away so I can safely introduce myself to them and a muzzle must be used if they pose a significant bite risk. This can be outside at a place they enjoy or in a secure dog field (please let me know if you need one booked). I am happy to discuss this with you beforehand. With cats, I ask that if they are an outdoor cat, they are locked in the house so I am able to meet them to be as accurate as possible in my assessment. With horses, please have them in a secure area, whether that be a field or a stable. Horses do not need to be tacked up and ready when I get there, it can be really valuable to see you interact and catch your horse to give me a complete picture.
I will supply the treats for your session, but if there is something your pet loves please let me know! I also have toys/enrichment of my own that unfortunately I have to take back with me and will not be able to keep with you unless I see fit. If your pet has an intolerance, let me know before the session so I can avoid them. I will not be help responsible to any possible reaction they may have.
I am happy to wear a mask in our sessions so please just message me know before hand and I will make sure to have one on. Although I regularly do covid tests, if you would like me to do one before our session, please just let me know.
I do not advocate the use of positive punishment/pack leader theory/ or dominance-based training on any pet. I am a treat based, positive reinforcement trainer and will not use anything like prong collars/ spray bottles or restrictive headcollars on your pets. I can give you 101 reasons why and if you wish to use them, I hold the right to cancel our session with no refund. If you have any questions about this before your session, please do noy hesitate to ask!
Training takes time and it is not instant. Time is needed between sessions to ensure the training is working.
I have worked with animals for many years and am capable of identifying pain across the species. I may ask for a vet visit to assess whether they are in pain or uncomfortable in anyway. This can involve blood tests or x-rays. I may also suggest your pet be put on behaviour drugs to help support their journey or a pain trial to see if any difference is observed. This is a case-by-case suggestion and we can discuss this further if needed. If I feel your pet is in pain and you do not want to take them to be seen by the vet, I hold the right to cancel any planned sessions until they have been seen by a vet.
I am fully insured which will help cover me and you if an incident were to happen. I can give full details on request.
For any behaviour I am not comfortable dealing with, I will refer you on to someone who is. I will do this as early in the sessions as possible as to not mess you around.
You are fully responsible for your pet in these sessions, while I am there to help you and guide you, I cannot be held accountable for any incidents that take place inside and outside of the sessions. I do have toys on me and cannot be held accountable for you dog consuming toys or objects in your session or outside of your session. This includes injury or in the unlikely event, death.
I require a mobile number and email address for your session as both contact and to send you training plans etc..
If you have booked block sessions, I ask that all sessions are used within 4 months. After 4 months, the sessions will be lost and you will have to book in again.
Sessions are generally spaced 2-3 weeks apart so you can practise your training and make any changes to their environment. I don’t have a magic wand, as much as I’d like one, so between sessions I expect you to be practicing any training/following behaviour modification plans as this really is the only way we can make changes to your pet.
I hold the right to move sessions when needed. I rarely need to do this but in case I fall ill or in case of a family emergency, I hold the right to be able to move your session at least 24 hours before your session.
Payment
I require 100% of the payment at least 48hours before your session. I am only a small business who relies on this income to survive! Unfortunately, I had a string of people who never paid me so I have had to change the way I do things. If this is a problem for you, please let me know and we can discuss this. If payment is not received, I hold the right to cancel your sessions.
If you need to cancel, I require 48 hours’ notice. If you just want to move your session, that is absolutely fine and I can move it to when it best suites you. 48 hours’ notice would be ideal for this but I understand life gets in the way!
C&S do not offer refunds in any circumstance so if you feel like you would want one, please contact via email and we can discuss it .
